We work closely with community pediatricians, schools, and families to provide family-centered behavioral treatments, teaching children and families skills to minimize distress and maximize wellness. We also work with adult women dealing with issues related to relationships, work, or families.
The first session is focused on obtaining a comprehensive picture of your concerns either for yourself or your child. I look to you for information about:
- You or your child’s current level of functioning
- Areas of strength and of weakness
- Family structure
- And more
During this meeting, you will be able to get a sense of the therapist’s style and manner of relating. If you have a sense of being understood and agree on reasonable goals for treatment, the next step would be to schedule a series of meetings in one or more of the following formats: premarital, individual, group or family.
This service is offered to children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18) and adult women who are experiencing significant distress or disruption in their lives at school, home or in their relationships, and are seeking personalized attention to address their concerns. This is an opportunity to use the objectivity of a therapist to sort out the thoughts or feelings of worries, fears, and frustrations regarding the concern. In this working relationship and confidential setting, a therapist is able to help you create new perspectives, gain awareness of the nature of the problem and develop ways to create plans for change.
This service is offered to children and adolescents who are experiencing significant distress and could benefit in a group setting of peers that can provide feedback and support. This type of setting provides a shared sense of trust and safety among group members. They are able to challenge each other in respectful ways to promote growth and to try new ways of dealing with social situations and improving self-esteem.
This service is offered to the child and their family who are struggling with conflict among family members. Family counseling is an opportunity for the family to recognize communication styles and work on their relationships with one another that interfere with the resolution of conflicts. The therapist is able to facilitate a safe interaction so that all members can be heard, understood, and provided skills to help produce change in the family as a whole.
